I interview Emma, a transgender female and her fascinating story of struggles, bigotry and eventual happiness.

Transgender female

How long have you been transgender?

I have been cross-dressing for ten years, but about four years ago, I decided I loved and dreamed of being a female, so I started my journey to transition. I have my operation in September.

Were you in a relationship prior?

Yes, I was married with a daughter, and when I initially told my wife, She was ok about it and wanted to stand by me, but her family had other ideas and forced us apart, though I still have a good relationship with my daughter and see her often.

What made you choose the name Emma?

Because I am a massive fan of Emma Watson, but my full name will be Emma-Scarlett Jade.

Where do you work? - are you accepted by your colleagues?

I got hounded out of my job because of being a Transgender, and now I’m just temping here and there. The shock of this hurt a lot, and I nearly killed myself.

Do you go to your temping job dressed as a woman?

Yes, I do, but people still try to make me uncomfortable.

Does wearing sexy lingerie make you feel like a woman?

I love wearing Sexy lingerie, especially stockings, as it makes me feel happy and sexy as the woman I am.

What do you say to people who openly show bigotry to you?

Tell someone who cares because I don’t. I am getting a T-shirt made saying that.

What would you say to anyone who is just starting out on your journey?

Just be yourself and be happy and never let anyone put you down.

Transgender woman

I hear you have found happiness - Please tell me about it.

Her name is Jessica, and we met on a plane, and we met a few times whilst on holiday and hit it off from the start. We chat every day, and we both want each other.

Sounds very romantic?

Yes it is, and Jessica will be with me when I have my operation and be there with me. As you know, I am getting some special lingerie for my big night, and I will send you photos of Jessica and me together and keep you informed on how I go.

Thank you, Emma, for sharing your story, and you are an inspiration. You are living proof of all the bigotry and hatred of Transgenders. You have not only dealt with it, you have smashed it, and we all love a happy ending.
